It is produced with a special steam-crystalized kilning process, rather than the stewing and roasting process of a traditional crystal malt.

The resulting malt adds the desired flavor and color, as you would expect from a crystal malt. Steamed C40, however, comes across as less assertive than most traditional crystal malts due to our special steam-injection and kiln-finishing process.

Flavor and Aroma Contributions

The flavor Steamed C40 presents is bold, but is presented in a softer manner than most drum-roasted crystal malts.

This makes it a fantastic option for adding less aggressive flavors to lighter beers.
