North American Proud.

We’re proud of our past, but just as proud of what we have created in North America. From the roots those farmers instilled in Malteurop, we have established Malteurop Malting Company (MMC) in North America with malt houses in Winona, Minnesota; Winnipeg, Canada; and Great Falls, Montana. Distributing to some the best breweries and distillers in the world.

Malteurop sources from the most fertile barley growing regions in the U.S. and Canada. Including US states: Colorado, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Wisconsin. Canada includes the Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta territories.

OUR STORY IS BUILT INTO THE FLAVOR

Long before the beer is brewed, hard-working farmers and uncompromising maltsters roll up their sleeves and get to work making the world’s best malt. They’ve been doing it for us, day in and day out, since 1961.

Our rich European heritage draws from generations of old-world barley farmers and malt artisans, cementing our appreciation for the tradition, patience and meticulousness required to make superior malt products.

It All Begins

The value of Barley was an investment worth taking for Providence Agricole Cooperative. They build their first malthouse in 1961.

Growth

Several other cooperatives in northeast France soon swelled the ranks of Providence Agricole and the malthouse was progessively expanded. In 1975, a second plant was built in Pringy, in the Marne department.

Growth

Union Providence Malt was founded in 1977 through the merger of 15 cooperatives.

Born

Malteurop was born in 1984, through the merger of two regional unions: Union Providence Malt and Union Champagne Malt.

North American Foundation

In 2005, we opened a state-of-the-art malting plant in Great Falls, Montana, strategically located in one of the most fertile barley growing regions in North America.

Prestigious Malthouses

In 2008, Malteurop purchased malthouses in Winona, Minnesota; Winnipeg, Canada and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Milwaukee headquarters was originally home to Froedtert Malting.
